The Voyager trains are an excellent example of successful design collaboration. In this case, DCA translated the high level design concepts and branding proposals from Virgin’s so-called red book into manufacturable design solutions that Bombardier were able to faithfully deliver in the final production vehicles.
Our work culminated in the design and construction of a fully representative full-size interior mock-up, which demonstrated all the relevant design details and production methodologies.
Following sign off of the interior design by Virgin, this mock-up was transported to Bombardier’s factory and was installed adjacent to the manufacturing line, where it was used as a reference benchmark for the first production vehicles.
